Q: How much to watch the games?
A: Tickets are $6.00 per day $4.00 with ASB or for seniors. There will be tournament and family passes available as well.
Q: How many years has this tourney been around?
A: This will be the third year of the tournament. Would have been fourth but COVID hit.
Q: Who won the first two years?
A: Parkrose won the first year, both boys and girls. The second year saw Central Valley take the boys tourney and Mark Morris win the girls bracket.
Q: But this year you have three brackets. Why?
A: We had hoped to do a 16-team boys side with each team playing four games but the WIAA voted down an amendment that would have increased games played. We just kept the 16 teams, added another location, and remain hopeful for next year that the amendment passes.
Q: What type of teams get invited?
A: For the boys side, we look for solid squads with talented players who can play at the next level. We also aim for teams of similar ability so we can showcase close and competitive games. For the girls side, we try to provide competition between teams who have been struggling a bit lately.
Q: There is a team from Las Vegas playing this year. Do you try to get teams from outside the Pacific Northwest to play?
A: We are ecstatic that Canyon Springs joins us this year and we hope to always have a team or two fly in to play.
Q: What makes the Clark County Invitational appealing to teams?
A: We try to put on a classy event each year. We give Player of the Game awards after each contest, trophies to the champions, a stellar hospitality room for coaches and officials, and we provide passes, invitations, and prospect information to every college program in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. In the previous two years, 21 colleges have sent coaches to watch. We don't have all the bells and whistles of some of the bigger tournaments, but we try to do things right.
Q: For parents coming from out of town, what are some good places to eat?
A: Soooo many places! I'll list some favorites.
Twigs
Amaro's
WildFin American Grill
Ben's Bottle Shop
Cactus Yaya
El Antojo
Blind Onion Pizza
Thai Little Home
Q: Is there a place you'd recommend staying for parents who are traveling?
A. Absolutely yes. The Heathman Lodge has given us a nice deal. The group block is labeled “Fort Vancouver Basket Ball Tournament" and parents can call the hotel directly at 360-254-3100 and it will officially close on Monday December 6th 2021 at midnight.
Q: Who do I contact if I have questions?
A: Tournament director Ben Jatos at [email protected]
